The Right Low Carb Menu

Submitted by on May 28, 2011 No Comment

What you eat daily can depend very much on your lifestyle. Do you eat at home a lot or do you have to go out for business lunches or do you eat on the go? Here are some suggestions that might help you stick to a low-carb diet without having hunger pangs or guilt!

Slow dancing with the carbs!

Breakfast is a good time to load up with proteins so don’t feel shy about a rasher or two of bacon and maybe an organic cheese omelette or Oeufs Florentine? But never forget to start with a couple of really big glasses of water – marvelous way to kick start your day and get the body functioning – and helps with the thirst too!

As stated earlier, lunch does depend very much on where you are. At home you can go for lots of salad with either grilled chicken or beef or your favorite spicy recipe, but if you have to eat in a restaurant, what about kebabs? Alternatively try a steak with vegetables or salad. No time to eat properly at all? Keep drinking water is good advice and will help to avoid unhealthy snacks but if you really are starving then go for a few nuts – preferably almonds or brazils, but don’t overdo it – veggie sticks like celery or a little organic cheese. Another option is to eat more but smaller meals instead of lunch and dinner but again this will not suit everyone’s regime.

You can make up menus for yourself based on the type of food that suits your palate but bearing these suggestions in mind. And be sure to keep the right ingredients handy so you are not tempted to call for a pizza! Each person has different likes so you need to find what suits you and your routine best. It’s your health after all and you owe it to yourself to look after it.

Finally we come to dinner. For many this is the most important meal of the day when you can relax and really enjoy the food you are eating. Try Mexican especially if you like your food spicy and again if you have to eat out a lot this can be a good solution. Plenty of peppers and zucchini grilled or stir-fried along with a BBQ steak or stir fried chicken makes a tasty meal or a grilled steak with a big green salad. And don’t forget beans, they make an excellent accompaniment to many of the above suggestions.

Hope this will help you and your low carb dieting. Remember variety helps so keep looking for new recipes and be innovative!
